Kerry's Freedom Trail To Blaze Through Virginia

Major announcement happening at the Capitol as we speak. Kerry-Virginia campaign officials have joined Congressman Bobby Scott, D-3rd, to announce that John Kerry will visit Norfolk next Tuesday as one of only a handful of stops on his journey to the Democratic National Convention in Boston.

The Norfolk visit will be the fourth visit to Virginia by Kerry in the past two months.

"Virginians are eager to welcome John Kerry back to the Commonwealth," Governor Warner said in a written statement. "From the moment he launched his campaign last year, John Kerry has talked about the values that Virginians embrace every day: service to country, fiscal responsibility, and expanded educational opportunity for our people. John Kerry's message is resonating in Virginia because he has a positive, optimistic vision for the future and because people in our state respect his distinguished record of Naval service."

Norfolk symbolizes America's strong military and will serve as a backdrop for Kerry to talk about his service to the country. He'll be joined by Skip Barker, a fellow Vietnam vet and swift boat captain, and other veterans.

More details to come later.

More proof--as if anyone needed any--that Virginia is a battleground state.

Kerry is going to lose Virginia. Give me a break why bother. Bush is going to win the electoral vote big this year!

Everyone has their opinion. I happen to disagree with this one, Honest Democrat. I'm also more respectful of trollish comments when they aren't behind an anonymous moniker. ;)

Instead of critizing Honest Democrat -- Why dont you put your money where your mouth is and start knocking on doors, or calling your neighbors --

If we have learned anything this cycle its that when you do the work, change will come.

So no more 'we're not going to win'

The only thing we should be saying is - 'We're going to win Virginia, and Im going to knock on 2000 doors and make 1000 calls and make sure that George Bush goes on a permanent vacation to Crawford, TX'

Be proactive, not reactive.

I have to agree with Dominic on this issue. Although we have some major work to do in Virginia, Bush only won this state by 7%. Considering we are in the south, this is not a wide margin. Many voter organizations are classifying Virginia as a possible swing state, so maybe we have a chance at turning this state blue this year. There are many people who honestly don't know the difference between the Democratic and Republican parties, so we really need to make the Virginia Democratic voice heard this election. I have signed up to volunteer and I'm trying to spread the Democratic message to anyone who will listen. I already have a few converts in my Republican family.
